The Food
Located in the relatively tranquil corner of Pusat Bandar Puchong, Luckee Canteen beckons diners with promises of fusion delights that bring together diverse culinary influences. With moderate expectations and an appetite for culinary exploration, we recently paid a visit to this charming café. Our overall impression? A lukewarm 3 out of 5 rating that left us with mixed feelings. Join us as we break down our experience and dishes that fell both short and surprisingly sweet.
We started our meal with the Scrambled Eggs & Cheese Sandwich, a toasted artisan ciabatta bread creation that sounded promising. The sandwich comprised fluffy scrambled eggs, a slice of cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes. While the eggs were undeniably fluffy and cooked to perfection, the overall flavor profile of the sandwich left us desiring more. However, the tomato-flavored chips (or crisps) served on the side were an interesting twist and a welcome addition.
Next up was the Spaghetti alle Vongole, a dish that showcased spaghettis smothered in a tangy garlic Japanese wine sauce, accompanied by white clams and chili flakes. However, the standout issue with this dish was the unexpected prominence of tomato flavor, which didn’t quite complement the delicate wine sauce. The clams were cooked well, but the tomato intrusion overshadowed the subtler flavors we had hoped for.

The Drink
As for our choice of beverage, we decided to try the Colorful Orange Tea. This vibrant concoction featured a blend of orange, pineapple, and dragon fruit. Initially, the drink seemed somewhat bland, with the orange dominating the palate. However, as time passed, the flavors started to emerge more distinctly. Towards the end, the sweetness of the pineapple and the exotic notes of dragon fruit made their presence known, ultimately creating a more balanced and enjoyable sip.

Overall
Our visit to Luckee Canteen left us with a mixed bag of experiences. While the cafe’s ambiance and location in a quiet corner of Pusat Bandar Puchong were pleasant, the dishes we sampled didn’t quite live up to our expectations. The Scrambled Eggs & Cheese Sandwich offered a hearty and fluffy filling but lacked a cohesive flavor profile. The Spaghetti Alle Vongole had potential, but the overpowering tomato taste clashed with the intended wine sauce harmony. On a brighter note, the Colorful Orange Tea surprised us with its gradual flavor development.
Luckee Canteen may still have room for improvement when it comes to balancing fusion flavors and refining its menu offerings. Nevertheless, it’s worth noting that taste preferences can vary widely, and our experience might not necessarily reflect the preferences of every diner. If you’re in the area and intrigued by their eclectic menu, it might be worth giving Luckee Canteen a try and forming your own opinion on their fusion fare.
